Yes, it's a real thing.
If you knew my mother and you know me that I l̶i̶k̶e̶ L-O-V-E this band. She mentioned one of their song's in her book and sung ORDINARY WORLD, solo in the car. It was such a cool moment for me that if I could physically record that moment I would still have it on continuous loop.
My parents were an awesome supporter of my habit as I traveled and played Duran Duran's music in ear splitting and window breaking volumes. Never once yelling at me "to turn it down or turn it off!"
My mother was always the one that drove and picked me up from the airport. Talking to me on the phone while I was in the airport, at the hotel or waiting for the music to start. When you could walk through security without a plane ticket, she always sat with me until it was time to board the plane and always stood patiently waiting to greet me and mentally preparing herself for me to ask her, "so when can I go to another concert?"
The next time I go to a Duran Duran concert, I won't have my mother to do the hand holding, weather warning [I still went to a concert with "we're going to shut the city down because of a hurricane." It hit two days after I came home. Two outside shows standing the entire time in below freezing temperatures.] things that she did to make sure I was blissfully happy.
Holding on to a little hope that when the tour dates are finally announced, that I'll have a man like my father and like my mother wrote about to listen to the many lonely and excited phone calls, dry the many tears as the loss of them both hits me again and the virtual holding of the hand as I take his private jet to London and the entire leg/listing of every single date of the tour. LOL
He can stay in Dallas.
From 1988 to 2011, only four times did my bubbly personalty, pleading, kicking, screaming and holding my breath get me a "No" from my mother. Out of those four times, I had twenty-five "Yes!"
